Erica gracilis
Genus: Erica.
Species: Erica gracilis.
Bought in Bauhaus Sept 30th 2008. In bloom. Label said Erica Gr.Rot, obviously German for red. No Erica species in my book beginning with G. Planted in pot on terrace in multi purpose compost which is peaty, with rhodadendron food in the pot. Hoping it keeps flowering but since not all heathers are winter flowering then we wait to see. Very pretty at the moment. Identified as Erica Gracilis by GOY friend.
A/C to Internet research this is a non hardy heather, tender below 30C, and needs to be treated as house plant in winter.
