Kalmia latifolia 'Big Boy'
Genus: Kalmia.
Species: Kalmia latifolia.
Beautiful in bud and flower, larger leaves than most and a full-sized Mountain laurel. Didn't grow at all the first season but already seeing new growth this year. Went through winter without a problem and never showed signs of stress where as my Rhododendrons would occasionally curl up. I planted a Pieris that really didn't over-winter well so this has been a good broadleaf for my climate.
