Paperbark maple is beautiful even as a small tree. I love having plants with year-round interest.

Now I am confused, as I also bought Acer griseum in arboretum, but mine does not have that typical maple shape of leaves, isn´t so colourful during the year, but will have decorative bark in adulthood, I was told.
I have also Acer japonicum Aconitifolium and that is lovely tree - by shape and changing colours of its leaves.
But did you try Amelanchier? That is festival of colours during the whole year. It is beautiful as solitary tree.
