Agapanthus flowers

Agapanthus flowers (Agapanthus africanus)

This one is a pale blue, rather than the deep blue plant I have in the back garden. Its flowers are also bigger.

Beautiful Spritz.

Thanks. Sadly, it only produced one flower stem this year!

So did my mum's...think it got a bit choked by the rest of the undergrowth!

I can't plant anything close to these - the roots are so fleshy and near the surface!

Thanks, Pip. I see that it only produced one flower in 2009, it has five this year!

:o) Excellent

Strange, though, with the dreadful winter we had. One of the others hasn't bloomed at all this year!

There's no telling with plants, is there?

12 Aug, 2010

Nope. I can't explain why an annual like an antirrhinum came through and flowered again - while perennials and precious shrubs died.

12 Aug, 2010

My Antirrhinum is weird like that! I was neglecting to water it as often as I should... and it died... so I was just going to pull it out, then I noticed green shoots at the bottom! So I just pruned all the brown stuff - and now it is springing back beautifully!

Well, that's good...:-))

Are they annuals with you as well, Pip?

13 Aug, 2010

Yup... well they should be! You've got me worried now ;o)

16 Aug, 2010

There are one or two species that are perennial...I had one, but I think it vanished...:-((
