Bougainvillea 'Orange King' - Orange King Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea 'Orange King' - Orange King Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea 'Orange King' - Orange King Bougainvillea)

My Bougainvillea is blooming again. Bougainvilleas are so widely grown here along the freeways, commercial landscape, and home landscape. These large vines, shrubs bloom all year here in San Diego, CA. This plant is almost 23 years old. I keep it in a pot because in the ground it can very quickly grow out of control. This is the color Bougainvillea I had as well. Chopped mine right down...it was taking over my stairs and sticking it's thorns in my hands!

Yes, they need to planted well away from walkways. I keep mine in pots. I can enjoy the hundreds of different Bougainvillea varieties throughout my neighborhood.

Yes, they are best in someone else's garden....where I don't have to prune them. lol! :>)

White, yellow, and every color you can think is for sale here. They're very cheap, too.

Yes....it would make a wonderful display outside of my shop....(but keeping them in pots and small!)
I tried as you suggested rooting them in water. It didn't work. Maybe it was the wrong season? (fall)

Alexandramou:

They are great ornamentals in pots by shops. :>)

I'll post my small cutting started this past Fall. It actually broke from this posted Bougainvillea plant.

It's too late for me to try again ;o( They won't be big enough by May to give a nice display.

Thanks! Yes, I like Bougainvillea in a pot. I had so many in the ground in the past...and they're just too horrible to prune. Luckily, there's millions around for me to enjoy in other people's gardens. I have seen Bougainvillea grow up a 80ft/26m tall palm trees here. :>)
