Very spiny.

Very spiny.

The cactus was left in the house when we came. It was in a round glass bowl and as the Cactus grew, developing a side shoot, the poor thing was getting squashed up against the glass. I had to break the bowl to rescue them and re-plant them.

I like cacti. There are so many shapes and diferent types with diferent spines and colours..... I can't understand why people don't like them.
I have lots of plants I could really live without if I had to but not my cacti. I love them. lol You must think I'm a very sad person :o) Good job we're all diferent.

Hywel, I was hoping you might see my cacti photos and help me to give them names! Have you got any idea what the spherical one might be? It has a second sphere on its side which is growing each year.

I have some books I'll look at to try and identify it.

Thank you. The other one is tall-ish - about 6" now, and as you can see from its top view, (in the other photo) sort of ribbed with spines up the ribs.

I'll get back to you later.
I have to go out this morning but I'll have a look after I come back.

Spritz ~ your Cacti plants ~ have you owned them for a long time ?
Some people keep them for years.

Only the one that was given to me by a child in my class YEARS ago! The others were here when we moved in. I am just going to post the rest in the hope that Hywel can name them.

The spines on this one look thick and strong. I would say it's a type of Ferocactus. That's a characteristic of this group.
They start off round and get columnar with age.

I love cacti, cacti do not love me. I have killed cacti with kindness but a GOY member told me to ease off on the watering. You have some really lovely cacti photos.
