Wodyetia bifurcata/Wodveitchia - Foxtail Palm/Foxy Lady Palm (Wodyetia bifurcata/Wodveitchia - Foxtail Palm/Foxy Lady Palm)

The Foxtail Palm has been very popular for about 15 years...the Foxy lady palm has become very sought after and popular in the last 6 years. The Foxy Lady Palm is a hybrid between Wodyetia bifurcata x Veitchia. This house is about a mile from my house.

Do you see a lot of snakes, as you might find in Texas gardens?

Terratoonie,

We have rattle snakes here which are poisonous and many other types of snakes that are not poisonous...not in my yard though. I have alligator lizards and 4 other types of lizards in my yard. I just found out about a month ago that the alligator lizards can give you a nasty bite and they are not afraid of people...I don't bother them, they don't bother me. Also, they eat a lot of bugs which is good.

Marguerite,

It is amazing how many species of palms we can grow here; at least 227 genera and the list is still growing. We have a tremendous amount of Madagascan/ New Caledonian/South American palms constantly being introduced into California .

We also can grow the tallest palms in the world- the Andean Ceroxylons, and the most massive palms in the world- The Wine palms. Neither will grow in a tropical climate like Queensland.
Seems like California grows the biggest everything.
