I took Barbara's advice and went and just sat in the garden to enjoy it - without feeling guilty - ok a bit guilty! The first roses on the arch are just opening and I wanted to share them with you all. The other rose, Felicite et Perpetue has yet to explode!

That's beautiful Jane. I've planted roses for the first time this year, two climbing roses and some ground cover roses, hope they're as lovely as yours.

Hi Jane, I planted two climbing rose 'aloha' to cover a fence back in April, they're supposed to be pink but the buds are looking very red, but thery're doing very well and the colour will still be fine in the border they 're in. I also planted two ground cover roses 'max graf' but unfortunately I think I've set them back a bit. Initally they were in the wrong place (not enough sun) so I moved them and now they've almost completely defoliated. I thought It was because of black spot but it isn't, I think it's just been the shock of moving them again. I hope I don't loose them.
