OMG, Peter, I am green with envy! I'd love a real wooden cold frame. Dads are fab, aren't they? you are so right to be proud.

This looks great, what do you put in here? I thought that it was a compost bin at first :)

This is looking good.
The lid split into two sections is a good design.

Thanks everyone :o)
It wasn't too difficult to make with the right tools (borrowed), and good fun too. I got the split lid idea from looking at ones you can buy. The only bit that wasn't too pleasant was cutting the plastic lights.
TasteyG - a compost bin, that is an improvement on my better half's comment that it looked like a coffin!! I explained it is a bringer of life :o)

Great cold frame Peter :o)
Which reminds me, It is about time I built one for myself.
I have to agree with your better half though. It does look a bit like a coffin.....lol

Well, this all very "green". I think that I'll build myself a 5' 7"split-lid cold frame from recycled wood and plastic (of course), with collapsible base! Then "they" can deposit me in a hole in a woodland and re-use the "coffin" as a cold-frame!! I can apprecaite your difficulty with the shaping of the "lights", Peter, but, right now, your comment has me laughing all the way upstairs to bed, lol!

Looks great Peter - I've built my veg beds from pieces of pallets and old scaffold planks - makes it the more worthwhile to use up old bits and bobs...

Thanks ClaireP - As they say, re-use is better than recycling! I had it easy using cut planks :o) Mind you, I've got some wine boxes from a friend that I plan to use for planting later in the year too.
