Do these large-leaf plants need to be sited away from wind damage?

The leaves on this plant are relatively small...they can grow to about 10 feet long and around 6 feet wide. They are absolutely enormous! It difficult to really see the scale in a picture. In the future I will get a picture with me under one of these plants for scale.

Terrratoonie, yes these plants must be grown in a wind-protected area. The Santa Ana Winds can tear them to shreds.
