More pics of the red dahlia... (Dahlia Pinnata (Dahlia))

sorry to be a bore about this plant...I am so thrilled with the wonderful red and the profusion of blossom...I'm not even worried about the fact that I don't know the name of the var.!

I bought a variety pack!! it was labeled "cactus" dahlia...that was it!! Maybe I can name it myself then, aye? I like Will Scarlet...how's that?

Or maybe "Scarlet Profusion"....Hey, bet you're tired of me commenting on so many of your pictures but I find them very well staged by mother nature ( I know, I know....you helped her along) but she didn't take the picture.....

LOL... So right about The Lady Nature... it's always nice to hear from you Skippy! Isn't digital photography a wonder... I used to fuddle around with SLR's...glad those days are overwith... I was looking for a theme with the Will Scarlet name...you know ...I'd find a lovely one like the mauvy pink one for Maid Marian, and maybe the brilliant greenish white one for Robin Hood, and one of the fat pompons ..for Friar Tuck...I was having a mind warp...have to admit, though, Scarlet Profusion does have a certain cachet!

Oh yes! and plant Zinnias with them... both Mexican natives, Ole! they look wonderful together...the zinnias are a source of constant colour and they are strong and resilient...I've had to stake up the dinnerplate dahlias because the flowers become rain soaked and want to bow their heads, taking the rest of the plant with them!! It will be time to dig the rhizomes after the first frost starts their dormancy and, alas!, that won't be long now.

Thanks for your comment, Motinot...Hope the red one survived...it was a long winter and they didn't look very good when I took the rhizomes out of storage...will have to wait and see...but that's the nature of these wonderful plants ...you think nothing that dried up looking could ever have life ..but plant them ...and up they come!
