Sambuccus Nigra ( Elderberry) "Black Beauty"

That is so lovely Anchorman...Dawnsaunt sent me some but it reverted to green in my garden Lol

It is a beauty Aman.....I've seen them in the village, a real eyecatcher.

So much nicer than their 'common' cousin!

I also have the golden leaved variety. I've added it to my GoY photos. I intend to plant the Black leaved version next to the golden one. I think it should look spectacular.

I have one of these but it never flowers. The leaves are beautiful though.

Stunning it looks lovely the pink flower against the dark foliage.

I had a new one last year AM , I shall be thrilled if it gets to look like yours ,I only had two flowers last year !

I've not seen this one Am, i've got black lace, it's only a baby but flowered well. I do love this one, what position does it like? I was wondering why other seem to have a problem with it as elders seem very dependable. I did have the golden one, but as I didn't prune it, it got too big. Might get another as its young leaves are such a good colour ¦:-)

i have the sambucas but not niger ~ i think that one is spectacular ~ ive seen it in one of those open gardens and it is so effective amongst the flowers.

Was it grown as a short shrub, you know, cut right back to get all young growth, or allowed to grow naturally?
