Pretty flowers - and fragrant, too!

Did you inherit this or is it one of your plantings?

I planted it, Andrew. It's on the bank - in the 'architectural' border. I took out loads of Symphytum and replaced it with much more interesting plants and shrubs!

Andrew will also know how lovely it smells! :-)

Very different to the usual Ribes and the perfume is an added bonus.

Definitely! As Andrew said, you wouldn't be able to guess it came from the same family.

The scent is fantastic. There is a really strange (but beautiful) hybrid of this with R. sanguineum - R. x gordonianum, which is red with a yellow centre. When I went to get a photo (in my mother in law's garden), it had been cut back and had no flowers. Will have to wait till next year. I can't remember if it had a scent.

I shall be looking in the Plantfinder, Vincent! I have a red and white border...
