The butterfly conservation society is asking gardeners across the uk to Help study the plight of several types of butterfly and moth, as they have all decreased in numbers over recent years. All you have to do is pick a sunny spot in your garden, a wood or a field and count the number of each type that you see within a 15 minute period. You then send your results to their website.
The ones which they want you count are: Large white, Small white, Green veined White, Brimstone, Large Skipper, The six Spot burnet moth, Silvery moth, Common Blue, Holly blue, Small copper, Ringlet, Meadow brown, Gatekeeper, Wall, Speckled wood, Marbled white, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Painted lady, Red admiral, And the Comma. Send Your results to www.bigbutterflycount.org Your help is very much needed and appreciated.
(There are pictures of all the butterflies in their list here and on my next photo).
