I stayed in a large home with a verandah like this, it was a hostel we stayed at on the island of Tahiti while we made plans of where our base was going to be, which turned out to be the island of
Riatea..in the French Polynesian Islands...thanks for the memory...lovely...

Does this go all around the house? Looks like a lovely spot to relas and enjoy the scenery :)

Well Tasteyg the verandah is like this on three sides of the house because the house is built into the side of a hill. This house is 100 years old and was moved out here about 20 odd years ago and when they re-erected it the fourth verandah was made into a room which now has the greenhouse beside it.

That's interesting Bernieh.......is the house made of panels or wood? It's certainly very beautiful from what you have shown us.

It is made almost entirely of wood - wooden floors and walls (what we call tongue-and-groove walls), wooden door frames and window frames, wooden skirting boards and picture rails, wooden staricases and wooden verandah frames - we do have pressed metal ceilings however in most of the rooms.

Gorgeous...

Well Marguerite that old squatter's chair was given to us by a family member when we moved out here - it has been in the family for a couple of generations and it is a great spot for a bit of a nanna nap! To answer your other question we have been here now for nearly ten years - the driveway gardens were established, but we have made a few changes to them. The courtyard garden, greenhouse garden and front gardens have been mostly our work, apart from the large trees that were already there. We have been limited in what we can do by the rocky terrain and poor soil as well as water restrictions.

You are most welcome and I have lots still planned for various areas in the garden now that my interest has been rekindled so I hope I will be posting lots of photos in the future.
