Our decking....

 Our decking....

Thought I would post a little pic of one side of the decking with some of me plants and pots on.The home-made water feature is at the far corner and the long, brown planter in the middle against the balistrade was made by moi out of leftover planks from the veg planters!

Your deck area looks terrific - love the little lanterns.

Looks great! I'd enjoy sitting there and looking at your lovely garden :)

Thanks BH. Thankfully, the deck was here when we moved in last September - at 20ft+ and about 10ft deep, I don't think I would have managed that!

It was obviously bare and soulless and as we had decided that we wanted this area as our vantage point for the rest of the garden, I decided to get planting...complete novice but learning by the day, or even hour with all the great people on GoY!

Bought the lanterns for our housewarming party last year and had them in the trees behind where I'm stood taking the photo. Came home one day from work and Ali had hung them across the balistrade and they look very cottagy which is what we like.

Thanks for your kind comments. Now I've got another person to check out on here. Look forward to catching up with your blogs and pics over time :0)

Oh, thanks CD. Isn't it funny tho? I have raved about your garden to Ali and find it amazing as - and this is not meant to offend - before I 'got interested' in all this, I would have poo-pooed your garden as it is so full of everything but now.....well, Ali laughs at me coz I think it's ace! You have a magical eutopia that is personal and special to you and the beauty of it all is, we all have our own ideas and likes/dislikes but things we might not even want or would fit into our own gardens, we suddenly love in other people's gardens.

You know, we drove back to the house today and as we pulled up onto the back drive, for the first time, I truly appreciated what was waiting for us behind the fence. This site, and the people who are on it, has been an absolute inspiration to me and I can't wait for the garden to mature over time. We've already changed our ideas twice again, today!

And to think that years ago, I always had the vision of neat lines, patio, gravel and 1 or 2 pots.Low maintenance all the way....how blind I was..

Pretty planting, Oddbillie :o)
and the decking looks lovely...

Thanks B & TT.

The planting is more a, 'that would look nice with that', rather than, 'now that likes the same as that', way of thinking. Not sure if any is effected by the planting or the rain but some looked washed out poor things!

The slugs don't help matters either!

Very smart and nicely presented with all the encouragement the wildlife will be getting you ll soon have visitors to enjoy those slugs ..

Lol! We've found one on here as it happens. Suttons Seeds. Will have to save for it as I'd rather pay a little more and have one that will last and fit in. Can't believe you want the same!! lol!

You get so many ideas from everyone's pics and blogs on here it's fatal!!

Got to take up 24 more slabs tho first before I can put an arch in!! HAPPY DAYS!!

Hi your garden looks lovely! I am a real beginner and dabbling with some pots etc and am wondering if you have any tips on how to stop the decking marks from pots? Do u just use the 'feet' for all pots or is there any other option that helps ? Cheers Mel
