All overhanging and marginal plantings have been trimmed-back prior to the frosts. This will reduce pond floor pollution and a net is in place to protect my fishy friends from Herons.

Good idea, I keep mine netted all year, mind you I do have cats and dogs as well and one of our dogs loves the water....

Herons took all our fish in our last garden this time we only have a small pond ....
