"Garden of Illusions" show garden, Gardening Scotland 2008

This garden, by students at the Scottish Agricultural College (Edinburgh campus), was designed to show how the use of colour, pattern, mirrors, water and clever mural can make a small space appear larger.

Nice mural; it does add depth..

This is what I was thinking of when I suggested you do a mural on the shed wall, David. I like your door idea though...

Yes, a Trompe L'oeil mural as an optical illusion could be fun to try, but am not much of an artist.

And I'm in N.A. or I'd volunteer to paint one for you, David...I've done the walls and ceiling in my dining room and the ceiling in my bathroom...actually you could block it out...put it on a piece of paper first...get the angles down...block in the shadow areas with tape...paint em up and then add the highlights...piece of cake.

Aw, Thanks, Lori. Now, I vaguely remember reading instructions in a book somewhere just as you describe - but that was years ago. Perhaps I could combine my door idea and your mural one and paint a half-open door and frame, with doorstep, and real planters either side? I have to clear my "to do" list quickly and get on to this.

It was VERY well done, Mad!

It was also great chatting with the students who created this show garden.
Could something like this this fit in with your Art Therapy?

Probably!
I was just thinking, the more I look at it, the simpler it is!
I'd like to do something like that, but NIMBY!

Sorry, you'll have to explain "NIMBY". lol!

Not In My Back Yard! It's usually used to describe middle class bougeoisie, the type who (for example) are all for giving asylum seekers homes , but NIMBY!

Aha! Many Thanks. Could not, for the life of me, remember this, lol! :-)

It's quite a good one!
