Bright Gladiolus

Bright Gladiolus (Gladiolus)

When this flowered last year, along with some other rather bright Gladioli, I moved them over to the hot border - I missed this one, unfortunately! It looks awful where it is...

I can't believe that something so lovely could look awful anywhere.

Against a pink Lavatera??

10 Aug, 2009

What's wrong with that?

10 Aug, 2009

Thanks, Sandra.

Toto - it clashes, really! It looks horrible!!

10 Aug, 2009

But it's gorgeous!!

10 Aug, 2009

Actually, (whispers) I don't like it! Sssshhh!!

How was your trip to the Dentist? We went, too - and we had nothing amiss! Hooray!! :-)

10 Aug, 2009

Didn't you get my pm? I never got there! Smudge went under the floor when they were trying to repair it!!!!!
well I love it! If you don't want it, send it to Scotland!!Lol!

10 Aug, 2009

Ooops! Sorry - I shall take a look in my inbox instead of chatting and posting photos. :-(( I do hope you don't have to pay for the missed appt. like we do here.

10 Aug, 2009

I don't know, I tried to ring, but the number they called me from doesn't take incoming calls! Go figure!!

10 Aug, 2009

What a lovely colour combination.....

10 Aug, 2009

Lovely colour.

10 Aug, 2009

Why is it only me that doesn't really like it? LOL.

10 Aug, 2009

Dont really know but i think is lovely.

10 Aug, 2009

Lack of taste girl! LOL! Only kidding!

10 Aug, 2009

Just as well! I might send you a GLARE otherwise!

10 Aug, 2009

Got it! Thanks. ~~~~~~xx

10 Aug, 2009

Good stuff!
My pc's on a go-slow!

10 Aug, 2009

Oh ~ my lap-top suddenly goes off-line at around 10 pm most nights, and refuses to re-connect! How annoying is that?

11 Aug, 2009

That would REALLY bug me!!

11 Aug, 2009

To my shame, I call husband and he can usually get it back but only usually - some nights , it just refuses!

It's all down to changing to BT recently...a BIG mistake!

11 Aug, 2009

So we're back to AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGH! then!
My work changed to BT, nightmare, especially when it crashes in the middle of documents or important emails etc.
Virgin isn't too much better!

11 Aug, 2009

Yes, it is definitely an AAAARRGGGHHH!!! Husband got talked into it, with 'offers' etc, and he regrets it, too.

We never had problems like this before!

11 Aug, 2009

:~((

11 Aug, 2009

I'm not very fond of any of the large Gladdies and this is definitely not my cup of tea. Some of the small ones aren't bad but I can live without any of them.

11 Aug, 2009

Well, at least SOMEONE agrees with me! They were in a mixed box of bulbs given to me when I joined the RHS...I didn't have a clue what colour they'd be.

11 Aug, 2009

In the right place it may be good but i agree not with lavetera.
I have a few gladdies but not too many and they are in clumps not in rows.

12 Aug, 2009

I shall HAVE to try to dig it up and move it across to the hot border - the pale yellow one can stay!

Oh Sbg - can you imagine me planting ANYTHING in rows? lol.

12 Aug, 2009

no not even runner beans lol

13 Aug, 2009

LOL.

13 Aug, 2009

What's a row? I thought that was for boats!

13 Aug, 2009

LOL.

13 Aug, 2009

I promise faithfully all of my planting will be in clumps in future (not that theyre in rows now).

13 Aug, 2009

Good. The advice is to plant in odd numbers, 3, 5 or even 7 of the same plant in a clump. They definitely look better like that, even bright Gladioli!

13 Aug, 2009

Thanks! Just like interior design! (lol)
But your bright gladioli are SUPERB!
Mine have only just started sprouting!!!!

13 Aug, 2009

Really? Oh - I forgot - you are up in the cold North! That'll be the reason. Something to look forward to. :-)

13 Aug, 2009

Yes, they're taking their time! It'll be snowing by the time they flower at this rate!! Lol!
Mind you they seem to have moved into a ***! (Not saying it!)

13 Aug, 2009

Oh, please - no snow - I hate it!

13 Aug, 2009

Crazydi's already on Xmas!!

13 Aug, 2009

Well, she might be, but I haven't had my summer holiday yet!

13 Aug, 2009

I had to cancel mine! Uni starts the same day I was supposed to be going!! :~(

13 Aug, 2009

Yes, I remember. That was a shame, but which is more important?

13 Aug, 2009

Exactly! We all have to make sacrifices if we want to achieve!

13 Aug, 2009

I beg to differ with your caption Spritz, it's impossible for this to look awful no matter where it is!! This is one I'll be adding to my border, if I can find it. I really love the color.

17 Aug, 2009

I moved it this afternoon - over to the 'hot' border, along with the pale yellow one and two others that I think may also be 'bright' ones. I did the same last year with the orange ones, and they survived! Fingers crossed...

17 Aug, 2009

Sorry Spritz I love the colour, I am going the Christopher Lloyd way of gardening, after being tasteful and pale I want excitement and a wow.lol

17 Aug, 2009

You really will have to come and visit, Dd...I don't do 'pale and interesting', although I like a few white flowers in a bed, to 'lift' it...

Have a weekend in the West Country sometime...maybe in early June next year? ;-))

18 Aug, 2009

Thanks Spritz....you do B & B then lol....with cream teas please.

18 Aug, 2009

You'd get a cream tea!!! There's a farm 10 minutes walk away that does B&B - no excuses allowed!

19 Aug, 2009

Right you are then.........have been watching open gardens on the television, husband inspired now, wants to get in the book..........thought the garden was too small, obviously not compared to some we have seen on the TV.

19 Aug, 2009

Go for it, Dd!! :-))) The assessment is not nearly as scary as they make it out to be on those programmes!

20 Aug, 2009

Really Spritz, not sure anyone would turn up that would be my nightmare........
