The nice thing about the species Gladiolus is that they are shorter and hold up to the winds better than the hybrid types.

This is a winter-growing type. It is just starting to come up again after a dry and hot summer rest. Unless you have a frost-free area, it won't grow in Seattle. I remember how cold it got when I was stationed on Whidbey Island, and this bulb would not survive outside; yet it only grows in the winter.
