Hosta Flower

Hosta Flower

I had not realised that there is just a subtle hint of pink in this flower, strange how we do not notice these things until we take a picture.

Can't see the pink on my screen, but that's beautiful!

I can just see a hint of pink in the veining, strange that, never did notice it in the garden, don't think I got down far enough will have to go back and look, it might just be my camera. Will have to get on my hands and knees to see though. lol. Might be a while getting down and back up lol.

The flowers of Hostas are all too often ignored!

Been on my hands and knees Karen and yes there is just a hint of pink/lilac on this flower, unless of course it is my varifocals playing tricks.

oops, sorry, didn't mean to say you were seeing things....it just doesn't show up on this little screen. I'm on my netbook, perhaps I will see it on the laptop better. Its lovely though, and much nicer than any other hosta flower I've seen before!

Now no upsetting me girl!! You know how sensitive I am! lol. I had to go and look because I could not believe it myself. I like this one even though it is WHITE!!! The other kind are very blue and I always think they are soon over and going off best very quickly, also much smaller flowers on the bluer ones.

I have one that is only just starting to show shoots of flowers, it is v.late coming up. Think the dry weather we had was the problem, they are so big now that when it rains the water doesn't get down to their roots because of all the cover on the leaves. It started to turn brown on the edges of the leaves as well, sure sign it is stressed.

lol.....;) They have massive and dense roots don't they. Have you ever tried to dig a biggie out of the ground? I think you'll have to give it an extra drink!

I have never split one, I like them when they get big, if I want a different one I just go and buy one, down at Morton, where Uncle Tom had the farm, is a garden centre now, called Pot Belly Pig G.C. I fetch different ones from there, they are usually cheap and cheerful. I was a while before I could go down and look because I used to love it when it was Uncle Toms and Aunt Dols place, it took a long while for me to venture down there, it is so so different now.

Oh goodness.....so nobody took the cottage on then? I can understand how difficult that must have been for you. Gosh!

The people who own the GC live in the bungalow, think they have put another floor in though.

At least it is still there.....better than if they had demolished the whole thing!
