He's a black capped chickadee. Ours are a little different...mountain chickadees. They have a white stripe above their eye. Same personality though. Great photo. :o)

Fantastic bird photos! You must have a very good zoom on your camera.

Thanks so much for your positive feedback ! I honestly was surprised a how well the camera took these photos through my window. The only sign that's really noticable to me is the slight, milky blur of the background.

Not only wonderful photos - you have brilliantly clean windows. I feel positively embarrassed!!

Wow GT, to be so tiny they sure are tough. Never would have thought they would be able to take that kind of cold. Just goes to show bigger isn't always tougher is it !...:-)

he reminds me of our Coal tit, its another great shot

Dee...Dee...Dee.... Yep..these little birds live in the boreal forest...they've been seduced by feaders but for the most part prefer to be out among the pines and firs...lol. I have pics of birds at my feeder in Moosonee at temps hovering around minus 40 C. with ice crystals around their little noses!! Must dig around and see if I can find a good photo to scan...amazing the heat beneath those little feathers. You can tell when the days are severely cold...the crows don't fly...they sit in the tree tops with their feet snuggled up into their breast feathers... poor dears...

I can't imagaine anything surviving outside in that type of cold weather Lori. But then, I'm just a big ole wuss...lol !

Well the crows are flying these days... whole noisy flocks of them establishing pairs, and looking for nest sites...getting into the garbage on Mon. mornings... Seeing fewer Chickadees...but hearing the summer song of the sparrows....spring seems about to burst onto the scene! The Maple sap run has started...cold crisp nights just below freezing and sunny days above zero has the sap dripping from the twigs...Seen the sap eater recently? Things must be greening up nicely down there, aye? I'm going to post the lig. stuff this week... they are vernalised...they were on the plant all winter...I'm sending the whole bloom stock and I'll include some seeds from my autumn cache...separate of course...so you can tell me if there's any difference in vitality...

Glad to hear you are seeing the first signs of spring too Lori, it's a glorious feeling isn't it ?! We visited with my husband's parents today and his mother said she saw the redheaded sapsucker yesterday along with the most beautiful butterfly she'd ever seen. It wasn't out there when we went to check but at least I know it's still around ! Also, looking forward to seeing your seeds. Don't really know what viable seeds look like, I've just seen non-viable seeds, that I've gotten on many trades in the past from gardeners in my area.
