Oh nice Dawn....Does it produce yet or is it one grown for the next generation....?

Ha ha you two.
No nuts I'm afraid. The tree has been set for about 7 years but its very slow growing - I cant see it producing any nuts in my lifetime. :-(

Watch out Dawn BB is on the prowl of eating his way round Goy so your nuts might be next lol

No walnuts but there may be a few hazel nuts left unless the squirrel has taken them all :-)

I lost my big tree Dawn , it had a disease it was where the honey fungus was , I have a baby one it's only about a foot high I doubt if I'll ever see any Walnuts on that ..LOL...

I know Amy - such a shame - you just cannot replace something like that - well, not in our lifetime, so annoying.

We had a big tree it produced about 3 nuts after 25 years!! and the blooming squirrels pinched them, eat them in the green, took it out, can cause problems with other plants, now we have its baby, dont think we shall see any nuts, still we might live to be 100!!!

Ha ha Dotty, the squirrels always get our hazel nuts too, we just find shells.
I'm beginning to accept that we'll never see a nut in our lifetime. What problems do they cause to other plants then DD - mine is amongst some of the native trees so cant really do much harm, just curious.

You will be ok as yours are not in a flower bed, they exude through their leaves, which can cause problems with plants growing underneath them.

Oh I see, thanks for that info. I'm getting another couple on Sunday. Our local council is giving away a few trees so I'm getting a walnut a cherry plum and a wild pear :-)

Wow your own little (well not so little) forest.......

Ha ha Dotty. Collected them today and I dont want to appear ungrateful but they were only about a foot high, lol. I said to the man, when do you think the walnut tree will have walnuts, he said, in about 35 years, ha ha. Say no more but hope my offspring enjoy.

Well at least he was truthful...........
