Poinsettia

These red and white ones used to be all the rage 20-30 years ago and now you can't find them in the stores, they were always my favorite! Great pic.

I had never seen this kind before, usually they are all white or all red. This was at the botanical sanctuary. They have a lot of plants there that you don't see in the commercial garden centers.

Lots of varieties of plants and flowers have their "15 mins of fame" so to speak and then people get bored with them or some new variety comes on the market and everybody wants it. This is especially true in the floral industry. I seem to recall that the name of this variety had the word peppermint in the name.
