Yes it is a stunning colour, I had no idea what they were like but at the time the Queen Mother died, I happened to see these climbing roses called Sympathy and they just seemed to shout out to me, an excuse to buy us!!!! and they have rewarded me with constant flowers throughout the summer.

No photo 'cos technophobe, gardening is my passion. I planted Sympathy in my garden 33 years ago and it has become more wonderful each year. I feed it about four times the advised amount of rose food each spring and mulch it with lots of dug in manure. It completely covers my large pergola with thousands of roses. Three years ago ring-necked doves nested in it and we had such fun watching them outgrow their nest and fledge, learning to fly by hopping around the pergola. I always have some to give to visitors and a vase of them in the house. The perfume is intense and beautiful. I prune out a few of the old stems every few years and the main root is like a tree now. I dry the petals in open shoe boxes in the airing cupboard to make confetti for family weddings. This rose is a much loved member of our family now.
