Planted this years ago, hubby bought me it not realising they need specific soil conditions(not ours), sadly even after filling planting hole with ericaceous compost its suffering :-(, but haven't got the heart to rip it out as each year it has a few flowers.

They do well in containers Kathy - why not get it a big pot to live in?

Did think of that Sarah, but been here several years now don't know if it'd survive, still not going to survive much longer here so probably worth a try.

I imagine it would transplant ok Kathy, as they have really fibrous root systems, although I'd wait for autumn now... All my Rhodos are in containers sunk into the ground, as I've got the wrong soil too. Fools all the experts ;-D

Thanks for the advice Sarah, was wondering when would be a good time to move it, will give it a go in autumn, may try that, with the container, as do like it where its planted.

We were looking at the photo's of rhodedendrons and my husband fell in love with this particular one. Yesterday we went to the garden centre and came upon the same variety. It's called President Roosevelte and Yes we did buy it.

Nice Kathy. I've found that mine pieris and azaleas have done much better this year since I gave them a dressing of well rotted manure.
