Autumn skies

Autumn skies

It's Autumn in Southport when the Pink-footed Geese start to arrive. I have to admit I quite look forward to it. (To be honest I enjoy all four seasons)

I used to love hearing and seeing the comings and goings of the geese across Romney Marsh. Sadly they don't seem to fly across the village I live in now.

Oh I've been to Romney Marsh a few times (years ago now) - walking there in winter you can feel like you're the only person on the planet. There was a church there, all on its own out in the middle of the fields - St Thomas a Becket I think it was called - strange. Beautiful part of Kent.

Sounds like Fairfield Church, MW. I have a lovely photograph of it on my wall, a present from my daughters. I used to look after an old Baptist minister who remembered skating around the church when he was young. Wonder if they have been doing it this week :)

You're right, that's the one. Just Googled it here www.flickr.com/photos/barryslemmings/3595009156/

If you look at page 20 of my photos you can see a photo of the photograph (!) that I have. It shows the church surrounded by snow.

Found it ! Thanks Gill, it really is beautiful. Brings back chilly, but happy, winter birdwatching memories. :-)
