Big yellow squash

Big yellow squash

I planted a couple of yellow squash plants this summer to see what they looked like and get a load of this beauty that one of them produced! I had no idea that yellow squash got that large. The same plant has 4 new pups that are developing but are only 5 inches long.
Of course, Smokey Boy had to inspect the new stuff from the garden and give it his "stamp of approval". {chuckle}

These two plants are being grown in an area that has been prepared with compost, texas green sand, lava-sand, decomposed granite, zeolite, and dry molasses to rev up the biological activity in the soil.
NO "miracle grow" or any other salt-based fertilizers have been used on this test area.
Gotta love it!

*UPDATE*!
The huge squash as been cooking on the grille tonight for about 2 hours and about ready to eat.
The only preparation that I did was to brush it it with extra-virgin-olive-oil, wrap it in aluminum foil and place it of the grille...
Should be quite yummy with a lot of the natural flavor preserved.
