Great pepper to eat!

Great pepper to eat!

This pepper is named "Big Bertha" and grows rather large. This particular plant is one of two that I planted for "testing" a new organic soil mix. It survived the 79 days in a row of over 100 deg. F this summer and produced this nice pepper, once the nights got below 80 deg. The taste was "over the top", when I finally picked it and cooked it on the grille. Its' similar to a Belle Pepper in structure and cooking prep, but has a quite unique taste when cooked with "extra-virgin olive oil" and stuffed with Monterrey-Jack cheese. Not very hot, similar to a sweet bell, but VERY YUMMY! I'll have to grow more next year.. ;-)

Very cool Crissue! Were you growing Banana peppers by any chance? Some of the sweet ones that I have grown are very tasty, but the sweet bell peppers are still my favored plants.

No not Banana, Bell peppers, haven't tried the others yet....Just can't believe the crop we've had, I wish I had weighed them as we picked...a lot have been frozen; and some have gone to make Sweet pepper relish yummy...
Also now the weather is changing, we've brought the Pot into the Sun Room out of the cold nights...and it's still producing. never had a season so over productive...
