Cleaning Up

Cleaning Up

Just spent the afternoon cleaning up the property after a week of heavy rain and very strong wind. The place was a bit of a mess - lots of eucalyptus branches blown off - and I've lost a few plants as well.

You live in North Queensland, is it the same climate as in Thailand? You have the same kind of eucalyptus as I have in my land.

Sorry to hear that you've lost some plants. It's very upsetting when that happens.

Well Rolfkjo we have finished cleaning up but it's raining again today so I can't really take any photos. As for whether or not the climate is the same as Thailand I will give you some facts and you can tell me if it is similar. The region experiences a dry tropical climate with more than 300 days of sunshine each year. Average summer daytime temperature is around 30°C and average winter daytime temperature is around 25°C. Average annual rainfall for Townsville is around 1000mm which falls mainly during summer and autumn - November to April (there is a distinct monsoonal pattern). The surrounding vegetation is chiefly eucalypt dominated woodland - although some rainforest occurs on nearby ranges particularly to the north.

Yes I have noticed that Cairns can have many more hotter days than here during summer - we of course can have a daytime temp. of 34 degrees C and even 36, but we only have a few of those every year. We have so much sunshine here that when we do get rain - even though it's for only about 30 - 50 odd days a year if we're lucky - we still call rain 'liquid sunshine' because we so used to sunny days.
