Christmas Left overs

I put out some Christmas left overs two handfuls of rice, the big birds loved it. I poked some bread through the bars of the bird feeder for the little guys and some roast potatoes on the ground underneath, who knew squirrels liked roasties, I hope they don’t think that they will be eating liek that every day.

I too have plodded through the snow to keep our birds fed. poor things need us and do indeed reward us by singing and of course watching their antics. mr blackbird has still been coming to our deeply frozen pond for his daily bath and obviously been disappointed as no water was flowing down the fountain (his usual shower) so he has been coming very near the back door and practically begging. We have been putting fresh water out but this has been freezing very quickly. Hurrah! the thaw has started and he has been washing at the edge of the pond this morning.

Welcome to GOY gardenpanda, My first job Chriatmas Morn was to assemble the new birdbath and feeder, froze over night, but thawed out now. All our leftovers went in the garden and there was a free for all, the magpies came out the winners. Have a great new year.

Santa treated me to two new feeders and more bird food as well so my feathered friends also get to share my gifts. We have a cheeky Pied Wagtail visiting the patio, even looking in the window at us,lol. Think he`s telling me when he needs more tucker, our birds loved the left over stuffing, I`m going to make some more for them ......
