Actaea

Actaea (Actaea matsumurae (Bugbane))

The first flower on this plant. I'm hoping that it will grow taller, as it can't be seen from the front of the wide border.

Brian, this is only about 3'. I hoped it would be taller. Maybe next year?

Thanks, Bell...the only trouble is having to climb into the bed to see it!

this is stunning, almost lily of the valley'ish in appearance.
I really must put it on my wish list.

It's a lovely plant - and you'd like it in your shady area. :-)

Mine's 3' in its first year, up to the top of the flowers. I thought it might grow a little taller, but I suspect it won't.

Oh good. I don't expect you'll have problems tracking it down. Haha - an advert popped up - it's available via GOY!!!

Barbara, what do you think about the scent ? I think it's a 'Marmite' thing - love it or hate it. Personally, I like it !! :-)

HA! I can't reach it, Muddy - it's at the back of my wide border...so no comment, I'm afraid, unless I climb in.

In that case I'd recommend waiting for a dry day... lol.

I dived in today - and I don't mind the scent at all! I found that the other plant is also in flower - I can't tell one from 't'other, though. It was sold to me as a Cimifuga.

See who else is growing Actaea matsumurae (Bugbane).
