Balcony, (David) Question: your outdoor bulbs in pots. Will they freeze in winter or just get very cold. Have planted some in pots, leaving in coldish garage and hope to get flowers this spring??? Is that too much to ask?

Hi Wells, if by cold you mean temps above freezing (0C/32F) then alright but if at any time the temps fall as low as that then you can almost certainly say goodbye to your bulbs!
I don't know what the lowest temps may be that these bulbs are capable of surviving - never having put them to the test! Mine are never at lower than about 50F/8-9C to the best of my knowledge but having never measured the temps on the coldest nights in our windows (double glazed) I can no more than guess.
But if you have ever grown Busy Lizzies(Impatiens) you will know how sensitive they are to cold but I have several pots in each of our 3 windows that sit on top of the dormant Amaryllis bulbs in their pots & they have come to no harm even when we have had a couple of degrees below freezing. There is no heating below the windows that might maintain the temps artificially high either.
