Berberis temolaica (close-up) -2013

Berberis temolaica (close-up) -2013 (Berberis temolaica)

I first saw shrub in a garden in France in 2009, but it's difficult to get hold of in the UK. The first one I tracked down was a grafted shrub, and the graft failed. This is my second attempt - BINGO. For a sunny position, six feet tall and up to ten feet across, but best fairly hard pruned each year to keep it as a shapely bush. I love the combination of glaucous foliage and pale yellow flowers.

TT - it was so late starting to shoot this spring, I was afraid I'd lost it again (this one was planted last autumn)

Considering the weather we've had, this is a mini miracle :o)))

It's a native of Tibet and Yunnan, growing at altitudes of 14,000 feet, so it should withstand our winters

That's good to know ...
