I have been looking for the name of this fern for over a year and there it was on The Great British Garden Revival.
I thought it was British and was not searching widely enough as it is from Chile. :o)))

Hi Linda, you'll like this when it's full grown, they grow to between 3 and 6 ft, with an indefinite spread, a bit like a bushy tree fern, only hardy, Derek.

It looks beautiful all year round and the new leaves are such a wonderful colour. I have mine in my shaded woodland garden at the edge of the path. Ferns are a group that grow well in Scotland !!!!!! It would be lovely in a pot Andrew. Once mine starts to take over the garden I will try that out. :0)

If only you could come to the river by me and see the very big ferns growing along side the river Linda it is down a steep hill though but not that far to get to just steep.

That is great Amy. I love ferns in the garden. Thanks for the plant offer but I have planted so many seeds and I just don't know what I will do with them all. I have a Giant Scotch Thistle coming in a week too. :0)

I have a Giant Scotch Thistle Linda the parent plant was magnificent approx 8ft tall it died off but I've noticed a self seeded baby plant which is looking good for this year , I know what you mean about the seeds my greenhouse is bursting at the seams :o))

I have moved this fern today to give it more room Amy. I hope to plant the giant thistle with some yellow thistles.....Centauria Macrocephylla. The trouble is all plants want the same space. It will have to do with sun and shade.
