My shrubs are getting old now - there was some dead wood on them this year, but they're still flowering.

They were here (and mature) when we bought the house coming up 6 years ago - so they could be anything, really - I wish I knew the answer, Denise.

My neighbours is the same and she asked me to cut out the deadwood but only tidied it up otherwise would look awful and patchy. Should I take cuttings to grow on to replace it eventually?

I've never tried, Pip, but it's worth a go...One of mine does look awful - it's on its way out, I'm sure. :-(((

you must try soft wood cuttings spritz. My brother has quite good success this way. he finds they turn their roots up when they are about 10-12 yrs old.
