Crinum augustum 'Queen Emma' - Queen Emma Lily

Crinum augustum 'Queen Emma' - Queen Emma Lily (Crinum augustum 'Queen Emma' - Queen Emma Lily)

My Queen Emma Lily is still blooming with its very fragrant flowers. The plant has gotten very large since its roots have grown from the pot into the ground (which happens a lot here). Photo taken May 31, 2013.

very beautiful

I love it. I have several plants escaping the roots into the ground. Some are actually in very small pots and it looks comical having a large plant in tiny pot doing so well.
The lily is gorgeous ...very exotic looking.

Palmate:

Thanks! You most likely saw many of these when you went to Hawaii. They're very widely grown there. The variety is named after the Hawaiian, Queen Emma.

The fragrance of the flowers are like Gardenia flowers. It's blooms off-and-on throughout the year. It just stopped flowering a week ago. It will flower again soon, I'm sure.

So a beautiful aroma then . Thats great it flowers off and on makes a plant well worth having. I hope it comes again for you soon.

It will flower soon. It flowers a lot throughout the year. Once a month, at least. Sometimes it puts out two or three flower spikes at a time.

18 May, 2017

That's great I wish I could grow one.

18 May, 2017

It's an evergreen tropical plant. I think the roots are somewhat hardy, though.

That is good to hear I shall look out for one then . I would grow in the house but not enough light comes in my house so I have to have plants that like shade other than that my Cactus on my window sills.

19 May, 2017

This plant usually like full sun; however, sometimes here it burns in full sun. The plant posted has dappled shade from the tall Jacaranda tree.
