Delonix regia - Royal Poinciana - San Diego, CA

Delonix regia - Royal Poinciana - San Diego, CA (Delonix regia - Royal Poinciana)

A close up of the brilliant red flowers. Photo taken July 26, 2009.
The flowers are so bright, brilliant red the photo cannot capture the true color.

Marguerite:

D. regia is another interesting flowering tree here. In the low deserts of CA...they bloom in Spring. In the areas of Southern California where they are lucky enough to grown...they can bloom as early as June, however, generally July through October is more typical...which are the hottest months of the year.

Lori:

Yes, they are pretty impressive...however, my camera cannot capture the truly red brightness of the flowers.
