Australian Tree Fern - Dicksonia antartica (Dicksonia antarctica (Soft tree fern))

A new addition to the gardening family, this baby tree fern arrived today, I think it will be in a pot for quite a while, but eventually make it's way into the garden......:o)

Oh...that looks so cute!! I'm sure that it'll be in the garden before you know it Janey. I would love a tree fern but it would have to definitely be an indoor plant here. I think they look so nice.

They are Bernieh.....you must see them all over in the wild and in gardens....I'm just hoping my shady area will suit it okay....:o)

Hope you're keeping warm Gilli.....cool and damp here, maybe too cool for the tree fern....I 'll keep it in the greenhouse till Spring, they are lovely aren't they....:o)

I wonder how long they take to grow?

4 Dec, 2009

A long time Sid on its label....it'll grow to 2metres tall in about 10 years....but it'll be interesting to see it on its journey.......I've just taken a pic of a fully grown one in a small pot......I'll post it now, then you can see it would be easier to look after in a pot, and bring it into a more sheltered spot in Winter....:o)
