This is the Pink Ball Dombeya in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.
This tree blooms in the middle of winter. It is a beautiful tropical flowering tree. This tree is about 30 + feet tall and 25 feet wide.
It is the largest I've ever seen in California.

This tree tends to grow more widely in truly tropical climates. It is native to the northern areas of Madagascar which is in the Southern Hemisphere.
I've read in the late 50's and early 60's many trees and shrubs were introduced to the Huntington Botanical Gardens from Madagascar...and over the years have been distributed into the plant trade.

Aleyna:
It is such a nice feeling to relate to plant and memories of childhood.
I have several plants that remind of childhood.

Marguerite,
Do Dombeyas grow in Australia?
There are many species of Dombeya. Many of the species grow well in Coastal California. They also grow easily from cuttings.
