I don't think I could do without Erysimums in the garden, do you?

I agree Spritz and the cuttings are so easy to do.

Ummmm...errrrrr....I'm a failure, I'm afraid. my cuttings didn't 'take'. Boo hoo!

Thats a shame.

When did you take yours, Denise? I think I was probably too late.

I do them alt years Spritz. In 2009 I must have done them Sept/Oct

Oh - so did I! I thought taking them so late was the reason I failed!

I like these plants too, but they do get woody in their second year. Great idea to take cuttings, must have a go next year. Any special compost/treatment Drc? and which part of plant etc..a little blog would be handy if you have time.

Well its so simple Tetrarch, I just cut below a joint on a young, soft but strong stem that isnt flowering , remove most of the leaves and stick them in seed compost and keep them sheltered and watered, only do one per pot and right in the middle to give the new roots plenty of room.
I replace the original plants if they get woody after about 4 years, as I find in their first 3-4 years a good trim in spring keeps them from over growing and getting straggly.

Right! Next year, Im up for it!! will let you know how it goes...how could I resist telling everyone how good/bad I was at it?? lol!

Lol

I'm going to follow Denise's instructions to the letter, so if I fail next year, I can blame her, can't I! LOL.
Seriously, thanks, Denise. I hope you don't mind, but I've copied the instructions next to the plant in my list. :-)
