Weeping Fig in Fremont. Sort of a rarity and at this size. (Ficus benjamina (Weeping fig))

The global AND urban warming of the metropolitan SF bay area has allowed this plant to grow into a tree here, when it never grew at all ( freezes we had every five years or so to cut them down) before 1992.
Its like a canary in the coal mine plant. It proves things are not the same as 1965.

It’ll bear a lot of fruit, Stan? Interesting info in regards it’s survival and growth due to the climate/global warming too.

No fruit for humans Kate. I don't think it ever is pollinated..no pollinator for the ornamental figs like this and Rubber tree.
Being a fig..it might make figs with no flowers inside..but animals wouldn't care. Like Penny's Monk parrots, here these would be good food for the very rare Parrot flock in the future.
Wild parrots of San Francisco are famous..but they crossed the bay to Berkeley too. I have heard them screech near here from my car- never got a glimpse of the parrots of Fremont.

I know where there are big Ficus benjamina trees that survived the 1990 freeze, throughout the SF Bay Area. They’re in protected spots. Many died, though. It was truly very sad!

I remember the parrots of Fremont. I used to see them when I lived in Mission San Jose, Fremont. They lived in the tall old Canary Island palms around the Mission.
