Ash Trees in Autumn

Ash Trees in Autumn (Fraxinus)

The boundary of Ash Trees in the park, 2 properties away, to the back of ours. OH says they are much taller than the 60ft I quoted, more like 100 ft. We think they are well over 60 years old. A dangerous one was recently removed, hence the space on the right of the photo.

Well, yes, they do look massive. I reckon the one in front of us must be about 50 feet, so I thought yours must be taller than you thought. :)

Looking from our back garden is North East, so those trees protect us from any high winds, quite sheltered but the fences and buildings create shade at some time during the day.

Far enough away not to be a nuisance but to look good.
We had tree surgeons in to cut one down for us about seven years ago. It was on the brook bank and quite near the top garage so had to go. When it was down and lying on its side it was chest height.

One year, we missed a 3ft whip sapling, hiding in an ornamental shrub next to the drive, couldn't get it out. Resorted to putting a towing rope onto the car and pulling it out that way, eventually.

I know, they grow fast and strong. I like your style, I will remember that trick.

Good grief! I hope mine doesn't start producing then....it's not mine of course, it's on the farm. It does shade my garden quite a lot in winter, which is a pity, but I love that tree. :)

they obviously have not got the virus that is attacking some of the countries Ash trees. Nice to have trees and the colours they produce in Autumn. ( Bit of a tree hugger) of course they are good for our air quality too so the more the merrier for me. Our Ash are dropping their leaves on mass at the minute. The oaks have not turned golden yet but will not be long if we get a frost. Strange thing though, first time ever while we have been here, not many acorns on our big oak tree in the duck run. When they drop onto the vehicles they make you think someone is out there shooting, makes you jump out of your skin I can tell you. lol. Enjoy the autumn colours it will soon be gone :O(

Olive, We all need to love our trees. I think the removed tree had Ash Die Back, the council removed it and some of the affected newer saplings. I think a couple along that row are Oaks, the greener ones.

A beautiful backdrop Siris and at just the right distance away.

They do shelter us from northerly winds. The crows perch in them before launching an attack on my pond to take my goldfish.
