When I received this from a neighbour, the tubers were about cigar sized. They are now massive, some thicker than my wrist! Two years ago I had 172 flowers on it! It's a very thirsty plant - When it's in full flower it likes a long drink each morning and evening and it's happier if it can stand in water too! I grow it on the shadier side of the conservatory, but it grows to something like 7 ft so in midsummer is in the sun for most of the day.

My favourite climber in my collection!
My first seed of Gloriosa lutea has just germinated.

Thankyou Michaella, It is a spectacular plant and a real talking point when in full flower!

Yes Meanie, I would say it's one of my favourites too. Lucky you with the seed - please let me know how it goes/grows!

Amazing- will it grow in a cold conservatory or does it need winter heat?

Hi Crv It grows and flowers during the spring and Summer Months, once it's flowered I let the plant die back and cut back the stems when they start to yellow. It then stays in it's pot in an unheated conservatory until I'm ready to pot it up again in the Spring!
