Yes it is. It's supposed to be the hardiest variety and I planted it seven year ago. It gets a dry mulch in late autumn (if I remember)

Looked at this one but decided on the gardenerianum instead.... we have quite a few gingers, not flowering at the moment, all look very healthy though.
