This Dalily should not be trying to flower now. I think I should cut off the stalk, as it won't come to anything.

I was thinking the same about one of my Sambucus today. I shall leave it for now as its only small.

Stiff frost this morning, I am going to cut off the flower head on the Daylily tomorrow. It shouldn't be.
I would be wary of cutting a small Sambucus now.

Off with its head this morning! Quite a hollow stem, binned it in case there were gall mite larvae lurking in there.

That's that then!! another heavy frost here.....-4!! eek! I hope it doesn't get any lower, or most of our garden will be dead!

Went down to zero outside, but that is under the carport and 5 oC in the conservatory with the heaters on, probably colder in the middle of the back garden, that can keep frost all day as the sun is too low to reach it. I try to keep the conservatory about 7 oC but lower doesn't matter for short periods.

I don't know, difficult really, noticed so many new buds on the Sambucus, not sure if I should leave them or prune it right down!! we don't usually do it until February!!
