Hepatica nobilis (pink) (Hepatica nobilis)

Found at (another) plant fair yesterday. The plant is tiny at the moment!

Very pretty. I did not know there was a pink H. nobilis. I thought they were either deep blue or white.

Well - have a browse on the Edrom Nursery site - and prepare to be amazed at the flowers (and prices!!!)

I always reckon it's best to buy these when they are in flower so you can see what colour you are getting. There's some very anaemic ones about

I adore these beautiful flowers...:>)

Great colour and I certainly won't look on Edrom website lol:-) I keep looking on websites and wanting, nay NEEDING things and no way of planting:-)

Ba, do look, because although I know you'll be a millionairess one day, it's way out of our league at the moment. :-O You won't be tempted to lash out at their prices.

Motinot, so do I! :-))

Andrew, yes, I'd only buy them if I saw them first.

Temptress!!!:-)

No, it's just mind-boggling to look at the beautiful flowers - and then at the prices!!!

I'm lucky Spitzhenry because Edrom is only 50 odd miles from me and we do visit occasionally. I drool over the catalogue but there is no way I would want to spend the kind of sums asked, for rare beautiful plants. I skipped the hepatica pages when I saw one I could lose my heart to. H. Tensei which is on offer for the bargain price of only £130 reduced from £295. There are plenty of much more affordable Hepaticas at the nursery to satisfy people like me who have no experience of growing plants like these.

I don't think they're all that easy to establish, Scotsgran, so just imagine spending all that and losing the plant! :-O

Exactly my feelings Spritz. I assume OH would not notice the shortfall in the housekeeping budget but now he is nurturing an interest in the garden he would want to see it year on year. .

He might notice the bread and water diet if you bought several...lol.

I know my limitations so there is no chance of that happening. lol.

What a stunning colour, my favourite.....

Thanks, Dd. :-)) I just hope they like it where I've planted them. They are very tiny plants!

Our local plant stall at Beverley market has these for £1.50 in the pink as well as the white. I got one of each last year and they are all in flower today, despite the biting east wind.

Did you see John Massey on Gardeners World? Now there's a man who's become addicted to these beauties! It was lovely to see someone so enthusiastic about his plants, I only really heard of Ashwoods because of their hellebore breeding program and, of course, seeing their lovely gardens on GOY. Worth watching on catchup if you didn't see it:-)

I'm not watching GW at the moment, but I might well have a look this evening because I did read about him. Will I drool?

7 Apr, 2013

Definitely!

I was at the SRGC Edinburgh show yesterday and I was looking at the lovely show of Hepaticas on the Edrom stand. The chap next to me was buying a rather pricey one and he asked if they would cut the top off the label - the price part. When asked, he agreed it was to hide it from his wife, who would never have understood his falling under the spell of a "pink" beauty. I did not take any photographs so I hope Scottish or Bulbaholic did.

Barbara, you'll need a bib;-)

7 Apr, 2013

Hmmm...maybe I won't watch it then.

7 Apr, 2013

You'll kick yourself if you don't spritz

7 Apr, 2013

OK, OK, I'll watch it tomorrow!

7 Apr, 2013

Browbeaten:-)

8 Apr, 2013

I watched it and managed not to drool . well not a lot anyway :o)))

8 Apr, 2013

I've just about mopped up the all the puddles of drool now

I did watch it - no peace until I did, lol. Aren't they fabulous! Fabulous prices, too, no doubt. John has soooo many, as well.
