Out on the stream bank today.

This was the first one I planted when I cleared the stream bank - Seaburngirl kindly sent me some more a few weeks ago - I'm looking forward to seeing lots of flowers next year! :-)))))

Lovely colour!

It's a native plant, but does that matter??
24 May, 2010
There are definitely some natives worth having, especially in your wilder areas like stream banks!

I have Purple Loosestrife and Mallow there, as well. They're very good and reliable - not like Lobelia cardinalis, which was chomped by snails and didn't survive. :-(((

I love purple loosestrife! I had that here, but I took it out...can't remember why..I think it was during a revamp....sigh!

I have a lot of plants I grew from seed three years ago, plus two 'cultivated' ones called 'Robert'...and a new one last year called 'Blush'. I do hope they all come back, not just the 'native' ones!
They were dead easy to grow from seed, Karen - no propagator or anything. I was giving them away to neighbours!

Only problem it is growing in the jungle!!!
27 May, 2010
Ooops! Can you get it out?
28 May, 2010
Had a look yesterday as it is out fully now, and it is not that one as it is blue and yellow !!

Is it a Dutch Iris, or a bearded one? My Dutch ones are just opening.
30 May, 2010
It is not a bearded one so it must be a dutch?
30 May, 2010
Yes - that's good! Easier to move...
