11.3.12 Lilium Lady Alice photo

11.3.12 Lilium Lady Alice photo (Lilium Lady Alice)

Because the bulbs are a large size, 16-18cm, I'm hoping these will grow to their full height of 120cm. I had a look around the internet before deciding to plant them today. They had started to grow in the packaging. They have gone in 6" deep, after a good soak. One site suggests staking early so I will do that. They should flower May /June time.

i grow a few tall varieties Scotsgran and i always stake at planting time saves damaging any roots that develop :-)

I prefer this lily shape and that's a beauty. They do grow tall, but mine have very strong and rigid stems and don't need staking. Probably depends on the variety and whether or not they are in an exposed place.

We have a very exposed garden so I will stake them asap. Thank you both for that information.
