I'm really excited with this baby Liquidambar.. It's arrived twice the height I was expecting. After seeing Amy's in its Autumn colours, I was determined to make room here for one. I'll pot it on and overwinter it in the greenhouse.
Looking forward to spring!

Where did you acquire a baby, Janey? It's a lovely specimen. I've been growing on a few very small acers this year and I've done stripling cercidyphyllum before now which after 5 years has put on an amazing amount of growth. A good way to grow them, I think. Your liquidamber is pretty.

It certainly will Sheila..:))
It's 3ft in height Ange from T&M. I shall keep it small as I want to grow it in a tub.
The cercidyphyllum is a beautiful tree, are the leaves turning yet?

I agree ... growing trees from infancy works well. I had a Cercidyphyllum in our last garden - should have tried taking a cutting ๐.

Yes, its leaves are turning orange-buttery and it's about 6ft high already. Interestingly, mine was from T & M too. I have standard hollies from them too which have grown very well over 3-4 years.

It does look a spectacular tree Sheila. You're not going to try one in your new garden?
How lovely Ange, I'm sorely tempted...:))

No Janey, thereโs really not enough room here, but Iโm happy with the handful of trees I have ๐.

Yes and it's beginning to colour up now Kate..:))

I've just has a read about the Stella, Daylily, it has beautiful deep lobed leaves doesn't it? And it's slower growing....that probably would have been more suitable for me. Not to worry, I'll just have to keep mine in check more!
